The Story of the Goat

Tuesday night while I was out taking my dog for our evening run as I crested a hill a heard a steady "click, click, clickety, click". I had my ipod up loud rocking out to Animal Collective and even though their music is full of weird sounds and noises this went beyond their level of bizarre. I turned around and saw a goat running full speed at us. At first I thought we could out run it so I sprinted but quickly saw it was still gaining on us. I'm not familiar with goats so I didn't know if it was going to attack or what so I thought the best thing would for it go its way and we to go ours. I tried running at it but that didn't phase it. I then let Duma charge it but once again no reaction. So I kept running and it kept right on running with us. Duma was not impressed that some goat was coming along for our run but as long as it stayed on one side of me and him on the other we were fine. I could have headed straight home but I wasn't about to let a silly goat ruin our run so I kept on going for another two and a half miles running around the streets of Hendersonville with a goat pressed up against my left leg and my dog on my right. We were quite the sight!

I made it home and inside and the goat immediately spotted my neighbor and his dog and charged them. He scooped up his dog and ran inside and the goat parked himself on his porch and was trying to get through his window. I took Duma's leash and collar over and caught the goat and took him back to my house.

Anyone need a goat?

Last night was Wednesday and what is left of the Drinking Club assembled at Corn Mill Shoals for a snowy and cold meeting. There is a lot of snow on the ground and it wasn't quite frozen solid so much of the 2.5 hours we spent riding was actually spent pushing. My new bike pushes really well! I'm still testing all my top secret p36 gear and must say that I think it is getting close to dialed in. I had a full pack, including sleeping bag, and it felt great on my back. Some minor adjustments and I should be good to go next week!

As much fun as pushing a bicycle around in the snow is I made the decision to bail down the road from Buck Forest and actually rode my bike for a little bit of the ride!
