having a high time

What you don't want to do is take your bike to your mechanic and have him do preventative maintenance on your hubs. The thing to do is pretend like your hubs are fine. All those rivers and all that water can't hurt a hub, not a Chris King hub anyway. What happens when you do preventative maintenance is you find out that you have a broken bearing and that means you have to order one which takes time. So your mechanic feels bad and decides his only safe option is to loan you his beater bike.

I skipped the WNDC last night, if there even was one, and instead headed to Pisgah. I did the classic Laurel > Pilot inner and outer loop but instead of taking the connector over to Pilot Cove/Slate Rock Creek I took 1206 instead as I didn't want to miss any of the climb. Blue skies and not a cloud in the sky, not a bad way to start September!

  1. Hey man! I swear I saw that beater bike lying along side the road in Pisgah one day...
