it's been hot for seven weeks

Well, I went and registered for my next event, the Springmaid Splash 10k. It is the weekend after the Wild100 which is pretty much perfect. Unlike the Rock2rock I expect this one to be flat but wet. So I took the dog out this afternoon for a little 'training' run. Starting from the Mills River Campground we did:

Fisherman's > North Mills River > Reservoir Rd. > Fletcher Creek > Spencer Branch > Reservoir Rd. > North Mills River > Fisherman's



At just over 6 miles it fits the 10k requirement but with 20+ plus river and stream crossing I think it is just a wee but wetter than the Springmaid will be. Somewhere on Fletcher Creek it started raining which was perfect because it got rid of the heat but somewhere on Spencer the rain gave way to a storm and Duma was completely unimpressed with the thunder and lightning. To make matters worse the five river crossings that he had been able to walk on the way in were now twice as deep so he had to swim all nine on the way back.

Six and a half miles in an hour and a half. An adventure for sure!
