So, the Drinking Club was just Jonathon and myself and we figured it would be a good idea to head somewhere we had never traveled, gladly beyond any experience, so we set a bearing for the lookout on top of Rich Mtn. and headed out. After spending several eternities trying to get everything just exactly perfect on the approach to the river crossing at Corn Mill Shoals I plunged right in and quickly discovered it was much deeper than I had initially anticipated. A sketchy skid followed by a carefully placed dismount midstream and then an even more careful transverse and I made it across. Knee deep but no collateral damage.

From there it was just up to Rich Mtn. Somewhere along the way mechanical gremlins reared their heads and we spent hours trying to make it out of those woods alive. At several points it was touch and go with me foraging for nuts and berries, wondering what the best way to kill a bear is.
